ALDI appeals Donegal Town decision

Just build the fecker in the town, otherwise it'll kill of the Diamond for good! Wouldn't it be the perfect tenant for the site behind the car park where work has halted?

German discount store ALDI are appealing a decision by Donegal County Council refusing planning permission for a store in Donegal Town ...

Donegal County Council turned ALDI's application down on the basis of the store's location and its distance from the "retail core" of Donegal Town.

The German firm wants to open the store at the retail park, which was originally granted planning permission by the council in 2008.

An objection was later overruled by An Bord Plenala and the development was given the green-light in December of that year ...

A decision is expected early next year.
